Attack of the Hashtag

News broke that Warner Bros. is being called on to replace James Gunn as the head of DC Films. The news came as a shock to many, especially considering the success of Gunn’s previous films, such as “Guardians of the Galaxy” and “Suicide Squad.” The #FireJamesGunn began to trend with the news that Wonder Woman III has been shelved in its current form.

At this point, it’s unclear what Warner Bros. will do, but it’s clear that some fans are not happy with the prospect of Gunn being replaced. The counter hashtag #WeStandWithJamesGunn soon followed. Only time will tell how this situation will play out.

James Gunn is an American film director, producer, screenwriter, and musician. He is the founder of Gunn Productions and the writer and director of the Guardians of the Galaxy films. Gunn began his career as a screenwriter in the mid-1990s. He wrote the scripts for the movies Troma’s War (1996) and Tromeo and Juliet (1996). He also wrote and directed the 2006 horror-comedy Slither. Gunn’s first big-budget film was the superhero film Super (2010), which he wrote and directed. He then wrote and directed the Guardians of the Galaxy films, which were released in 2014 and 2017. Gunn has also produced the horror films The Belko Experiment (2016) and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017).
