Patty Jenkins, the director of Wonder Woman and Wonder Woman 1984, has walked away from the third Wonder Woman movie after receiving notes from the studio, according to insiders.

Jenkins was told that if she wanted to come back and pitch a different direction for Wonder Woman, the studio would hear it. She stood firm to her vision and responded that if they didn’t want to do her treatment, she wasn’t going to do a different one and would instead just move on to her next film, according to The Wrap.

Patty Jenkins, left, with Gal Gadot on set of ‘Wonder Woman’ Warner Bros.

Will Gal Gadot return to the franchise or will Wonder Woman be recast? Unfortunately, it’s still too early to say for sure. While Warner Bros. has not made any official announcements yet, there have been some rumors that a full reset is impending.

UPDATE:

Patty Jenkins disputed the above version of events.
