“A Maple Valley Christmas” stars Payton List as Erica, a rancher who has spent her whole life working the family farm with her mother and sister. When Aaron, played by Andrew Walker, arrives and disrupts her plans, she questions what she wants.
Hallmark throws out the playbook by introducing the kiss and the struggle within seconds of the introduction of our two leads, giving us a whole film to build back to a relationship feverishly built in the opening act.
Aaron is there to buy the property once owned by Erica’s family, and instead of hiding the fact, he does what he can to ensure the property goes to the right place and wins over Erica.
The relationship between our leads is just the McGuffin; however, the real story is how Erica must heal herself before she can build something new with her family and Aaron.
It’s a great twist to a story that could have been a paint-by-numbers affair from Hallmark and worth watching with a sister or loved ones.
